It occurred to me the other day that taking a crisp, silk white shirt travelling is a recipe for disaster.
I can’t tuck into my bowl of Pho on Saturday mornings without spilling something on my Everlane blouse within five minutes, so I can predict how much I’ll regret toting it around with me for four weeks in Europe.
Not packing a crisp, white shirt is not an option, though. At least when it comes to my packing list - the slim pickings that characterise it - and the simple fact that a white oxford shirt just looks so smart.
It also occurred to me shortly after that I own no such shirt - one that you can wash and wear - and effortlessly wear to death; made of a fabric that doesn’t wrinkle in the crooks of your elbows (I hate that); or something that isn’t made from stiff poplin or polyester that looks more like it was made for the boardroom than for basking underneath the glow of the Mediterranean sun.
I’ve gathered some inspiration to assist me in my own search for a nice, white shirt and have even thought about scouring the mens’ department. I’d love to know where to start looking properly though - tweet me if you have any ideas!
